  • A measuring drum / a calibrated jar. Famously known as ounce.

  • Garnishing tools. eg. mint leaves, lime or lemon cuttings, fancy straws, fruit slices.
  1. MOJITO.

How to make a mojito cocktail.

Mojito is a common cocktail. You have likely heard it at the bar counter or famously too at the beach. Mojito is a Spanish word to mean mojo, a Cuban seasoning that is lime made and is used to add flavor to dishes. Also mojito could mean a ‘little wet’ as from the Spanish word mojadito.

 

Needed:

  • alcohol – white rum. eg. malibu carribean rum, bacardi superior or takamaka white.
  • Fresh lime juice.
  • 2 teaspoons of sugar.
  • 6 mint leaves.

 

Procedure:

  • pour lime juice in a Collins glass.
  • Add sugar and mix thoroughly.
  • Add mint leaves and pester them to the base of the glass using a flat base.
  • Add rum and let it settle naturally.
  • Add a little soda water to top up and fill it up with ice rocks.
  • Garnish (decorate) with a spring of mint leaves and add a straw.

Note that rum can be replaced with vodka and still mix well.

 

2. PINA COLADA.

It is a mix of a fruity blend of rum, coconut and pineapple juice with bloom.

 

Needed:

  • coconut cream
  • pineapple juice
  • white rum
  • dark rum
  • lime juice
  • frozen pineapple chunks
  • ice

 

How to make pina colada cocktail:

  • use two measuring glasses.
  • Combine the coconut cream with pineapple juice and the frozen pineapples.
  • Pour in rum and the lime juice in the other glass.
  • Mix them both and stir well.
  • Pour the pina colada the glass.

You can store to freeze the cocktail a bit more before serving.

 

3. SEX ON THE BEACH.

Such a lame name for a great drink. There are a few theories behind the name ‘sex on the beach’. The cocktail was invented by a bartender named Ted back in the days when he believed ‘sex on the beach’ was the main reason spring breakers visited his state. It majorly set out to promote the Schnapps company spirit and it was thus the main ingredient.

 

How do you make ‘sex on the beach’? Here is how you make it.

 

Required:

  • vodka (half ounce). You could use a full ounce if you want a harder buzz.
  • Peach schnapps. (half ounce).
  • Orange juice( full ounce and a little more)
  • berry juice ( full ounce and a little more).
  • Ice rocks.

 

Procedure:

  1. Add the ingredients into a shaker and shake thoroughly.
  2. Pour the mixture into a highball glass filled with the ice rocks.

 

Serving:

use orange slices and cherry to serve.
